Personal Assistance Service – PAS

Personal Assistance Services (PAS) is the first service in Cambodia. PAS is providing by PPCIL to individuals with physical disabilities such as spinal cord injuries, cerebral palsy, or muscular dystrophy, who require assistance from another person to perform non-medical activities of daily living.

PAS is the essential to the independent life of persons with severe disabilities. PAS is provided by one or more persons, designed to assist an individual with a disability to perform daily living activities on or off the job that the individual would typically perform if the individual did not have a disability. These services must be designed to increase the individual’s control in life and ability to perform everyday activities on or off the job and include but are not limited to: Getting up and ready for work or going out into the community (including eating, toileting, bathing, dressing and transferring), cooking, cleaning or clerical stuff, etc. However, Personal Assistance (PA) should never decide for the persons with severe disabilities, but work based on the persons with disabilities’ needs and instructions. PA is a professional job with specific principles and is paid based on working hours.
